We’ve back again! Join us in the Awesome Con Jr. section for the chance to participate in comic book are contests and win awesome prizes! This year, we are excited to debut our Sequential Art Contest, which will take place throughout the course of the weekend!

Friday May 1st

Fan Art Contest (20 Contestants Only)

2:00pm – 3:00pm

Have you created the coolest character this side of the multi-universe? Come show them off during AWA's Original Character Contest! Character should be your own creation and have a backstory.

Sequential Art Contest (10 Contestants/ 3 DAY ATTENDEES ONLY)

4:00pm – 5:00pm

Sequential art uses pictures and illustrations to convey a story or idea to your audience. Come create your own original, three panel, no word comic over the course of the convention weekend. Contestants will develop their story from a list of fairy tales provided to them on the first day of Awesome Con.

Day 1 – Artists will plan their story with thumbnails sketches for character placement and determine story layout elements.

Saturday, May 2nd

Original Character Design Contest (20 Contestants Only)

2:00pm – 3:00pm

Can you draw the most Spectacular Spider-man? Have you impressed people with your superb drawings of Superman? Impress our judges with your best drawing of your favorite comic book or cartoon character during AWA's Fan Art contest!

Sequential Art Contest (continued from Friday)

4:00pm – 5:00pm

Day 2 – Artists will work on their final pencil layouts.

Sunday, May 3rd, 2020

Comic Cover Contest (20 Contestants Only)

2:00pm – 3:00pm

Today, we're judging a book by its cover. Come draw your own comic book illustration that shows an original or established character in a dynamic pose or interesting environment that would make us want to read your story. Contestants must also include eye catching text to advertise the character.

Sequential Art Contest (Continued from Saturday)

4:00pm – 5:00pm

Day 3 – Artist will use markers and sharpies to ink their final comic submission. If applicable, they will have the opportunity to use color to enhance the story. Final results will be judged and prizes awarded on this day.
