The Girl Scouts of Central Maryland are hosting their second annual Girl-con at the North Laurel Community Center! Come in cosplay and enter their costume contest, make your own badges, or sit in on panel discussions. Art Way Alliance will be there with Comic Cupcakes, and lots of artists! We will also have some great, Girl-Power centered workshops!
Join us for the following:
10:40 AM - 11:40 AM - Sci-Fi Animation - Jimmy Horner teaches participants how to create their own sci-fi cartoons by teaching them the basics of animation. Anything is possible in this workshop!
11:50 - 12:50 PM - 3 Word Drawing Game - Using only 3 words provided by the audience, some of which will certainly pertain to the Girl Scouts, Darren Soto creates an original drawing that is sure to impress. After a few rounds, join in on the fun by creating your own creative drawings.
2:10 PM - 3:10 PM The Basics of Anime/Manga Character Design with Manga Studio 5 - Liz Staley, who literally wrote the book on Manga Studio 5, teaches students how to create their own characters with this commonly used software. This workshop will focus on structure, anatomy, and body language.
2:10 PM - 3:10 PM - Stop Motion Animation - Jake Heagy shows interested participants how to imitate movies like Boxtrolls by showing how to use dolls, action figures, and other figurines to create their won stop motion cartoon.
2:10 PM - 3:10 PM - How to Write for the Sheroes of Comics - Red Stylo owner and editor Enrica Jang teaches how to create dynamic heroines for your stories.
Inking and coloring tutorials will taught throughout the day by Keir Lyles.
We can't wait to see you there!
